Camp Firewalker

The owners of Camp Firewalker came to us with an unfortunately too frequent problem: they had a falling out with their previous web developer. The end result is that they no longer had access to their website files, their content, or their domain. With camp registration around the corner, they needed a new, modern website up and running so they could start planning their summer.

WordPress Web Development

The main requirement of the site was that it was easy for their staff to update. We utilized a theme with a drag/drop page builder to make organizing and editing page content quick and easy. One of their most common update needs was their camp forms. We built a custom page template with custom fields that easily allows them to upload new forms as needed. With the click of a button, these forms are then populated throughout the various pages of their website; no code or WYSIWYG required. Finally, we built out a custom online registration form to help them, and their clients, manage the camp registration process.

The overall look and feel of the site is modern and fun, with a message designed to appeal to customers looking to try something new and adventurous.

Content Creation/Management

10for2 reached out to the previous developer and negotiated terms to retrieve the content from the original site. This allowed us to use the old content as a reference to rewrite content for the new site giving it a fresh take on their camp and focus. We also recreated all their camp forms in both Word doc and PDF format to enable them to more easily make updates to them going forward.

Logo/Branding

Camp Firewalker hadn’t updated their logo or branding since their inception. 10for2 partnered with White Specs Creative to put together a new branding and a logo package for use all over the web. We incorporated the use of orange and red to tie in the “fire” component, and added a modern purple to set it all off. We also added elements of mountains and a zip line to represent the high mountain adventure the camp is for which the camp is known. Multiple sizes and variations were created for use across social media as well marketing materials and camp shirts for their counselors.

Search Engine Optimization

Losing what amounts to your entire web presence is no easy challenge to overcome. We counseled Camp Firewalker on finding the right domain for their new home. Unable to implement page redirects from the old site to the new one, we basically had to start over to gain link authority. We utilized on page SEO techniques to make sure their new pages were found and indexed properly by search engines. Shortly after launch, they were back on the front page of Google for “Camp Firewalker.”
